I will never get tired of living in Central New York. That is why I hope to help as many people as I can find homes in this area. I have lived here for a long time and I still discover new things to love about it every year.
Of course, just because I love to find new spots to enjoy does not mean I don’t have my favorites. There are quite a few places that I gravitate toward when I am in the mood for a bite to eat, a round of golf, or a lovely view. Let me tell you about a few of my favorite spots in CNY that help make it a great place to live.
Natural Wonders
Natural beauty is easy to find in this region of New York. All you have to do is step outside and start walking around. One of my personal favorites is Three Falls Woods, which as you may guess from the name, features three separate and peaceful waterfalls. Another great spot is Green Lakes State Park, which is made up of two glacial lakes with water that looks far more green than blue, surrounded by beautiful woods.
When you live in CNY, you get to experience all four seasons. The warm and sunny summers, the vibrant colors of autumn (a perfect backdrop for fall activities), the snow-filled winters, and the emergence of gorgeous greenery in spring.
Delicious Dining
There is no shortage of great places to grab a meal or a drink in the area. If you are looking for recommendations, then I would suggest Spill the Tea Cafe in Minoa, which also includes a yoga studio, or Seneca Street Brew Pub for a drink. A delicious lunch awaits you at Cafe 119 in Manlius or Trappers II. If you are looking for a nice dinner, then the Craftsman Inn (Fayetteville) or The Brewster Inn (Cazenovia) are great options. Don’t forget dessert if you are near Manlius where you can enjoy Mrs. Kelder’s Cakes right on East Seneca Street.
Historic Sites
I believe that living in a place with a rich history is important. One critical feature of infrastructure from the past that runs through much of CNY is the Erie Canal, along which you can find multiple museums and trails. You can learn about an important figure in the women’s suffrage movement at the Matilda Joslyn Gage Foundation, a museum that honors the woman who lived here for decades and played a key role in the fight for women’s rights. Stickley is one of the most historic furniture brands in the United States, and you can get a taste of its history at the museum in Fayetteville.
Every great place to live has a unique story, and CNY is no exception.
For Fun
If you plan to move to this area, you probably want to have some fun, right? Well, if you love to golf, I would recommend the Links at Erie Village, a challenging but gorgeous course in East Syracuse that is a great value. If you have some kids who are not quite ready for 18 holes, you could head to the driving range and minigolf course at Four Seasons Golf and Ski Center (with tubing in the winter). Personally, I love Lewis Park in the heart of Minoa where there are plenty of public events to help you feel like a part of the community.
Let’s Discuss Your Move to CNY
I could go on and on about all the great places to eat, visit, explore, and play in Central New York, but I will save that for an in-person conversation. If you are looking for a home in the area, I would love to help you find the right place so you can fall in love with this community as much as I have. Let’s talk soon!
